Frances is an Associate Professor of Ecotoxicology within the Institute of Environment and Earth Sciences at Heriot-Watt University. She is an expert in freshwater (FW) ecotoxicology and her primary drive and interest is to protect FW biota from interacting threatening processes. In particular, for characteristic biota (amphibians, FW molluscs) inhabiting ephemeral FWs, which are often overlooked but are very abundant globally, supporting exceptionally high biodiversity.
