Bernd Hänfling

Bernd Hänfling is the Director of the Institute for Biodiversity and Freshwater Conservation at UHI Inverness. His primary focus lies in applying molecular approaches to study ecological and evolutionary processes in aquatic ecosystems. An overarching aim of his research is to understand the interplay of natural and anthropogenic processes influencing the geographic distribution of biodiversity. He is deeply interested in evidence-based conservation and strives to translate fundamental research findings into effective management strategies and policies.
